SS 2013: Monochromatic Stripes and Prints. Black and white and big graphic prints go together like a hand to a glove. Love! Left to right: Marc Jacobs, Balmain & Louis Vuitton
How to Spend it Magazine shows that the pastel trend is here to stay for autumn/ fall. These shots are heavenly. I am also secretly tempted to cut all my hair off and dye it a pastel hue, pink maybe?
New York Jazz Age | Fall 2012 trend
As I currently reside in New York, I am happy to see a trend so close to the city that never sleeps. The Jazz Age started in the roaring twenties and what came with it was a explosion of youth rebellion which resulted in the beautifully bold flapper aesthetic and New York was one of many places that embraced this with open arms. Fast forward to 2012 and its influence is still seen in the fashion industry. Collections like Badgley Mischka,Jean Paul Gaultier and Cacharel have created looks that evoke 1920’s nostalgia of yesteryear and infuse it with the modern and the new making it every wearable today. Adore!

Cherry Berry Shades: | Autumn/Fall 2012 Trend
One trend I’m currently seeing this autumn/ fall is beautiful berry shades perfect for the season. The colours ranges from sweet magenta sweet shades to dark black cherry purples. Collections from Thakoon, Versus and Erdem and many more have all flaunted the beautiful berry hues. Combined with luxurious materials and textures it creates a look that is feminine, vivid and eye-catching.
Above are some berry coloured items that I think are ….berry nice (thumbs up for the terrible joke). Oh how I wish these would jump off my wishlist and into my closet…

Geometric Fashion | Fall 2012 Trend
Besides pink feathers, Geometric inspired prints are another thing I’m seeing this fall/autumn. They’re dynamic, vibrant and visually appealing. Even if this isn’t your thing, you can’t deny that this look will have heads turning. The three dimensional looking prints can be seen in the following collections (from left to right): Miu Miu, Kenzo and Prada. The geometric theme has also been seen in fall accessories right down from bangles to shoes! (From top to bottom: Wilfredo Rosado bracelets,Pierre Hardy Clutch Bag and Burak Uyan shoes) Lines, stripes and a pop of colour! I don’t know about you but I love it! I feel like I’m in a alternate dimension with Vasarely and I don’t want to leave.

Pink Flamingo | Autumn/Fall 2012 Trend
Okay so it’s still technically summer but boy I am excited for what the fashion world has to offer this Autumn. A trend I have noticed is the use of oversized, extravagant and down right flamboyant feathers and when you thought it couldn’t get more fabulous… add a touch of pink into the mix… What do you get? FLAMINGO! Before you think I’ve gone flaming mad, take a look at the collections below flaunting the fabulous look (from left to right):
Pink Flamingo or what? I love it! Just give me a few feathers and something pink and I’ll be ready to rock this look! This may just be the most colourful autumn yet.

Diamonds are forever |Mini Trend & DIY!
- Maison Martin Margiela fall 2012 fall collection - Mysterious, Etheral and Luxurious. The diamond encrusted masks were a personal highlight and made the collection a show stopper. It reminds me of the Damien Hirst skull entitled ”For the Love of God”. For the Love of God why is it so beautiful?!
- Talking about Diamond encrusted faces check out Chanel’s latest beauty campaign “Mirror, Mirror” . It’s very mysterious, hypnotic but so beautiful.
Diamonds are luxurious, Shiny & eye-catching. My love for diamonds will never end! If you’re not brave enough to flaunt the bad boys on your face (and let’s face it, neither am I) then here’s an amazing DIY by Honestly WTF inspired by Miu Miu heels showing you how to add some sparkle and luxury to your shoes! After all diamonds are a girl’s (and boy’s) best friend.

Butterflies Flutter by!
Butterflies are the most beautiful insects (if not the ONLY beautiful insects). They remind me of summer and they’re a personal fave so it’s no surprise that they’ve been making their own cameos in fashion as of late.
- Giambattista Valli’s fall 2012 haute couture collection sees the use of butterflies in ethereal veils and headpieces which really accentuates the fantasy mother nature feel of the whole collection.
- A recent editorial by Dazed & Confused also sees the use of butterflies and I’d check out this editorial because it’s absolutely stunning.
- Last and definitely not least a new pair of Christian Louboutin’s, inspired by the story of Cinderella and her infamous slippers, have just recently come out flaunting crystal butterflies and delicate lace…. so if you want a pair (like I do) a competition will be soon be announced where people will have the chance one of the twenty original pairs….Actually make that nineteen I have dibs on the first pair (in my mind…)

Garden Soiree | Resort/ Pre-Summer 2013 Trend
Another trend I noticed in the pre-summer 2013 collections is the use of florals whether it be through embroidery, lace, prints or a combination of all three! The above collections are proof of this, showing just how versatile flowers can be:
- Jill Stuart - Minimal, Delicate with a modern edge - Elegant figure hugging forms are updated with edgy styling
- Valentino - *One of my absolute faves* Regal, Elegant, Colourful - Timeless regal dresses are given a splash of fun with beautifully bright summer hues
- Gucci - 60’s 70’s nostalgia Floral motifs and embroideries bloom on long flowing silhouettes mixed with shorter mod silhouettes

A/W 2012-3 Trend: “Kaleidoscopic Kouture”

So most of you have been staying informed about what’s been going on during the fall or autumn/ winter collections recently including me. One particular trend I have noticed is this vibrant effervescent use of colour with very abstract, dreamy , fantasy-like themes underlying the garments and the styling. Now this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but this just so happens to be one of my favourite types of themes that designers tend to opt for. This theme can be seen in the collections below:

Meadham Kirchhoff A/W 2012-3: fantasy, fun and unabashedly flamboyant

Mary Katrantzou A/W 2012-3: Elegantly eclectic prints

Jeremy Scott A/W 2012-3: Technology and Technicolour
Definitely do check out these collections more indepth because with these mindblowing colours, whimsical motifs and flamboyant prints you will be definitely be left seeing stars….
