My Experience of Fashion Night Out in NYC

Yesterday was Fashion Night Out, a time to go late night shopping, partying and hopefully meet inspirational celebrities. Aside all the craziness, the jam-packed subways and the several cabs that turned me down, I was able to meet Betsey Johnson, one of my favourite designers. It felt like a dream with pink tutus, rose petals and champagne flying everywhere.Amidst all of this all I could think is there is a woman right in front of me who has had a long standing fashion career gracing the catwalk with all that is flamboyant and fun and she did it her way. Fearlessly. Recently as you may know Betsey Johnson faced bankruptcy earlier this year showing that once again even the best have their ups and downs but as Betsey Johnson, the crowd and I chanted quite rightly outside her Soho store “We are closed but Betsey’s always open!”

Oh and the shopping? Turns out I didn’t shop one bit. Not even at all! At one of the biggest shopping extravaganzas worldwide! Oh the irony.
